Germany has reached quite a lot in the area of electronic production. In 1983 already our association was founded in Munich and today our approx. 60 members represent basically the entire process chain: crystal growing, handling and cleaning of substrates, thin film coating, etching, drilling, testing, automatisation and handling, soldering, as well as design, clean room construction, facility management and software.
Our members are part of a global industry which enables electronic manufacturers to produce their high-tech products in large numbers and to offer it to the end user at a reasonable price. Thus, productronics contributes to a large exent to the success of making technology affordable for everybody.
Productronics is a very versatile industry sector. Because of the extremely fast development of technology and integration, however, it has to cope with an enormous pressure for innovation. Especially our industry has to invest more than average into research and development which usually exceeds 10 % of the turnover.
Some parts of the sector strongly depend on cyclical movements of the market. The market acts globally, the export rate for some products amounts to almost 90 %, investment is high.
These challenges require venturesome decisions with regard to investment, farsightedness in research and development and determination in the development of new markets. Networking is getting more and more important for the companies.
